Code names are fun. I like to make sure that I use code names for all my projects. Usually, I think up a theme for a product line and then iterate through the code names as I work on upgrades.

For example, “Lighthouses in Maine” might be a theme I would use and then I would put together a list of lighthouse names that I would want to use.  This is kind of like what Apple does with their OS X code names, such as Jaguar, Tiger and Leopard.

But don’t use whatever strategy Microsoft uses for their code names!  Longhorn?  Orcas (why not just Orca)?  Those are just plain weird!
