About Paul
Welcome to Software Made Simple. My name is Paul Lefebvre.
Since you clicked the “About Me” page, here is a little bit about me:
I started my career in the software industry in 1992, writing shareware applications for the Atari ST while I was in college. In 1994, I took a job at Systems Consulting Company, Inc. (SCC) to work on Medicaid Administrator (built with Advanced Revelation), a DOS-based software product for managing medicaid rebates.
In 1997, I architected, designed and built the Windows client/server replacement to Medicaid Administrator using PowerBuilder and Oracle. This Medicaid system is still in use today by over 50 pharmaceutical companies.
In 1999, I was transitioned to other projects and then promoted to Software Architect for the client/server division where I did a lot of work with PowerBuilder and Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures.
In 2001, SCC became I-many, Inc. and went public (NASDAQ: IMNY). In 2003, I left I-many due to disagreements with management’s decision to offshore most development (a decision that new management reversed in 2006.)
In 2002, I formed my own company, LogicalVue Software and in 2003 I incorporated it. Also in 2003, a great opportunity became available to me and I accepted a position as a .NET developer and architect at Allenbrook, Inc.
At Allenbrook I worked on creating a web-based insurance agent quoting system (now called PhoenixDirect) using Microsoft .NET. I was the lead developer for the first release and then project manager for subsequent releases. I still work here, but Allenbrook is now known as AMS Services. I work on a variety of in-house projects, including Team Foundation Server, virtualization, unit testing, process automation and tool development.
This year I started RBDevZone as a community for professional REALbasic developers and a home for RBUnit and UltraToolBar, our two open-source REALbasic projects. In May, I gave a presentation on unit testing at REAL World 2007 and I have been writing a lot more in this blog. In addition, I have been focusing on creating products and services for LogicalVue.
I pride myself on creating quality software that is easy to use and, just as importantly, easy to maintain.
And in March 2008, I left my job at AMS Services to work for LogicalVue Software full-time. Read about it here.
I hope you enjoy this blog.
Thanks,
– Paul (paul@logicalvue.com)
